gold flushed more

This afternoon I discovered something totally mindblowing while flipping through Ulysses. On p. 245 of the Oxford World Classics edition, which is the beginning of the "Sirens" section, I found the following:

Bronze by gold heard the hoofirons, steelyringing.
Imperthnthn thnthnthn.
Chips, picking chips off rocky thumbnail, chips.
Horrid! And gold flushed more.
A husky fifenote blew.
Blew. Blue bloom is on the
Gold pinnacled hair.
A jumping rose on satiny breasts of satin, rose of Castile.

Et cetera. Comment what song features these words and win cool points.

  5. no, I've been meaning to tell you Nick-- those lines from Air Wars are actually samples of another song, a tribute to James Joyce (I can't remember who did it, but it was pretty cool). WPRB played the original track on Bloomsday two years ago.
